It is the conviction of the Board of
Trustees that our schools should focus on Skill acquisition
in the basic areas of reading, writing and mathematics. The Board
believes that an understanding and appreciation of the sciences
and humanities must be included in a complete education. The Board
is convinced that our schools must promote experiences that will
assist the total child to mature mentally, emotionally, socially,
and physically. The Board supports the position that our schools
exist to offer a broad background of basic skills sufficient to
assist our student to enter the professions and the equally valuable
world of work. The Board also believes that educational growth
is a shared responsibility. The education of young people
is the mutual duty of the home, the school, the church, and other
social agencies.
The Board of Trustees believes that considerable effort and attention
should be focused upon the development of responsible citizens
who will perpetuate our democratic way of life. The Board further
proposes that if our democracy is to be sustained as we know it,
our young people must be kept abreast of the technological advances
so apparent in the rapidly approaching electronic age.
The Board of Trustees pledges that the educational effort of
Baugo Community Schools will strive to serve the best interest
of its students, present and future. To accomplish this mission,
the Board must systematically chart its course of action by allocating
resources on the basis of validated program priorities.
The philosophy and provisions as stated cannot of necessity be
exhaustive or all-inclusive. It is the intent of the Board that
administrative effort be regularly given to incorporate the philosophy
in the education process at each school building.
